🌍 Connecting Capital & Continent.
Omar's work has one throughline: moving capital toward the continent. Originally from Senegal, he earned a B.A. in Economics from Bates College and an M.S. in Finance from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. He built his institutional investment experience at Commonfund, where he worked with nonprofit organizations. He also cofounded Teranga Invest (named for the Wolof word for hospitality), a nonprofit connecting the African diaspora with investment opportunities back home. At AWI, Omar owns financial strategy, fundraising, institutional partnerships, and impact economics, helping build the systems and relationships that demonstrate, in numbers, that what we do works.
